This small corner building may look normal on the outside. However, it is an abandoned home filled with wasps.
Making a grand hive in this forsaken home are over 500,000 African Wasps. Located on the Canary Island of La Gomera.
The flying insects are believed to have been migrating and found a good spot there. This wasp nest measures over 22 feet long!
The local authorities of San Sebastián were called by worried neighborhood people. Even those passing by must have heard some sort of commotion with an essential blob so alive with thousands upon thousands of buzzing insects.
The hive is constructed by the wasps when they scrape wood fibers with their mandibles and chew them into pulp and then deposit it all into an ever growing hive.
Reported back in 2013 it is unclear if they are still there now, anyone know?
Update : The wasps were late killed with insecticides by authorities!
